Ben Pittman is a man of perfection.
From a very young age, Ben has been been driven to succeed. Growing up in the hills of Greenbrier County WV, he learned some important lessons in farming, cattle, horses, and hard work. In 1996, Ben moved to Virginia and in 1998, graduated from Eastern Farrier School. At the ripe ole age of 18, Ben began his first business: Ben Pittman Farrier Service. Through continuing education and the desire to help horses, he became certified farrier through the American Farrier's Association in 2002. 24 years after shoeing his first horse, Ben continues to shoe horses for many long time, loyal customers.
Having learned from some of the most talented farriers in the country, Ben learned to forge anything he set his mind to. From specialty, corrective shoes to damascus pattern welded steel to knife blades. Embracing the artistic aspect of forging, he began creating original works in the form of damascus knives in 2018. This has lead to many amazing friendships and awards along the way. Please take your time and enjoy the website. You will see evolution through the years, some incredible creations, as well as some nationally award winning pieces.
What you won't see is a page of inventory.
Ben does custom work and has a waiting list that is currently at approximately a 1 year wait.
We attend four shows a year in different parts of the country. He will make a limited number of knives to take to these events and this is really the only way to pick one up and take it home. Very rarely is there an available knife but if there is, it will be posted on the website.
If you are interested in ordering a knife, head to the Ordering Page for more details.
Check out their website for information on forging classes geared towards military and first responders.
